The Terroir

Poderi Boscarelli are located in a historic area for Vino Nobile DOCG. At 300 m above sea level on the eastern slope, and northeast of Montepulciano toward the Valdichiana, Cervognano enjoys excellent thermal ventilation that favors a microclimate particularly suited to quality viticulture. The lie of these soils of alluvial origin, rich in skeleton and sand, allows good drainage and gives considerable character and minerality to the grapes. Sangiovese dominates the viticultural presence in Poderi Boscarelli, accounting for about 80 percent of the plots. In addition to Sangiovese, there are native varieties such as Colorino, Canaiolo, Mammolo and some international varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, selected according to the specific characteristics of the soils. This diversity of grape varieties reflects our family's commitment to the pursuit of quality, making the most of the soil and climate peculiarities of the area.

Our production philosophy is based on respecting and maximizing the expression of different soils and clonal selections, which constitute the distinctive and unique characteristics of our wines. During the harvest, grapes are picked according to their optimal point of ripeness, determined by plant age, location and soil composition. Each selection is fermented separately, resulting in more than 30 cuvées of Sangiovese from each vintage, then blended in final cuts just before bottling. This process allows us to convey the complexity of our soils in each bottle, offering an authentic experience with every tasting.
